BVS Closure
Engineering
From glass neck geometry to a stable capping line: the practical considerations behind a reliable screw-closure package.
BVS is a bottle neck finish
BVS — Bague Vin Suisse refers to the glass neck finish used with aluminium screw closures for wine packaging.
A finished package involves more than a threaded bottle: the glass finish, closure, liner, equipment and application conditions must be considered together. BVS is a neck-finish designation, not the name of a cap brand.
A reference for deep finishes
Deep BVS finishes for still wines are standardized under EN 16293.
STELVIN® is a distinct wine screw-closure system and brand, originating in France, that uses a specific BVS bottle neck finish. A customer specification should identify the exact neck and closure combination rather than assume interchangeability.
Standard reference ≠ supplier certification. Request the applicable drawing and test evidence for your chosen package.
Define the functional surfaces
Finish diameter, thread profile, height and sealing surface influence how a roll-on closure forms and seals.
We review these against an agreed drawing and the selected closure. A dimension drawing belongs to a particular SKU; it should not stand in for every format.
Hold the specification through production
A nominal profile is useful only if production remains consistent.
Neck measurements and visual checks help identify variation before it reaches the line. Tight Dimensional Control for Reliable Closure Compatibility is the objective. Dimensional control down to ±0.15 mm in selected production parameters is based on company production data; agree format-specific tolerances and inspection records during quotation.
Match every part of the interface
The glass neck, aluminium closure, liner and tamper-evident ring function together.
Closure skirt length, thread engagement and liner contact need review with the actual cap specification. Where a closure supplier changes, compatibility should be checked again.
Apply the closure under real conditions
Closure application depends on the capping head and operating setup.
Review thread formation, sealing contact, tamper-evident ring formation, application settings and opening performance in line trials where appropriate. No single cap specification replaces a trial under your conditions.
Connect the drawing to the batch
Glass production, neck inspection and finished-batch checks support repeatable line handling.
We can share format drawings and discuss dimensional records for orders. Separate third-party food-contact results apply only to the tested sample and scope shown in our quality documentation.
Review the entire transfer path
Bottle handling, filling and cap application are connected operations.
Share line speed, equipment details, closure samples and observed faults. We can review neck finish compatibility and capping conditions with your team before and during production trials.
Investigate the specific issue
Troubleshooting starts with evidence from the line.
For application faults, closure changes or dimensional concerns, we can review the affected batch, closure matching and capping equipment settings through direct technical communication.

Inspect the interface.
The neck finish and applied closure are physical components, not abstract specifications.
For an application review, share a bottle sample, closure specification and production conditions.
Bring the actual interface evidence into the review.
Until new unbranded macro photography is available, the site avoids customer-branded application images in brand-level technical sections.
Bring the bottle, closure and line details together.
Tell us your format, cap and production conditions for a practical compatibility discussion.
